VPX Shotgun 12 Gauge Review

VPX Shotgun 12 Gauge Review

Overview

Here is what VPX say about Shotgun 12 Gauge:

VPX 12 Gauge Shotgun delivers the extreme mental acuity and intense energy required for explosive workouts in the gym and on the field. Increases in Myogenic Regulatory Factors up to 515% are proven by a study conducted at Baylor University on VPX’s original NO-Shotgun MHF-1™ formula. This same foundational University Proven Science has been used to develop the cutting-edge 12 Gauge Shotgun formula.
The All New 12 Gauge Shotgun has a far more powerful stimulant and "pump" or muscle volumizing effect than its predecessor, NO-Shotgun MHF-1™. Therefore, some individuals who do not desire such a powerful stimulant or muscle pump effect may still prefer the original NO-Shotgun.

I’m going to go ahead and call BS on most of that blurb they’ve just thrown out but I’m a professional (sort of) so I’ll go ahead and do a full review.

Serving Size

Container Size: 392g
Serving Size: 14g
Servings Per Container: 28

Pretty decent considering you don’t use it on off days and their serving is more than adequate so you don’t need to double dose like some pre-workouts.

Other Ingredients

malic acid, natural and artificial flavors, citric acid anhydrous, Sucralean brand sucralose, and acesulfame potassium

Unfortunately VPX don’t provide an exact breakdown but rather hide behind “blends”. That doesn’t necessarily mean VPX are providing poor quality or low quantities of the effective ingredients but it’s not confidence inspiring either!

Taste

I had watermelon flavour it wasn’t bad, not great but not bad. No lingering aftertaste which is a nice touch. I found that if I made it in advance and put it in the fridge it helped a lot with taste.

Price

If you can find it on offer (who pays full price for anything?) then you can pick it up for about £25-£30 which isn’t too horrendous. There are definitely cheaper products out there but I have also paid a hell of a lot more for less. If you are paying more than £30 for it then you are being ripped off, shop around a bit more.

Side Effects

It made me tingle from head to toe the first time I used it. Make no mistake this a powerful pre-workout, if you are used to stimulants then you will still “feel” this one. No nasty stomach cramps or headaches. I was expecting a crash when Shotgun wore off but it never came which was a nice surprise.

Results

Unsurprising VPX didn’t live up to ludicrous claims but that doesn’t mean that it is a bad product in fact far from it. No I didn’t find that anything increased by 515% and I wasn’t focus beyond belief but I did get very strong pumps in any muscle I was working, my legs in particular seem to swell up after a few sets of heavy squats, and did have the energy to finish my workouts with some in the tank. Trouble is because even though I know that 99.99% of what VPX said was marketing crap a tiny part of me was hoping that it was a miracle product and just left me a little disappointed *sigh*

Shotgun 12 Gauge is an excellent preworkout that will get you amazing pumps and a decent energy boost but it’s a little pricey and for the love of god ignore every word that VPX say. 8/10
